Tim Doyle to join GuidePost and head new practice group
WASHINGTON, D.C.– GuidePost Strategies, a Washington, D.C.-based government and public affairs firm, today announced the formation of a new practice group focused on corporate governance policy and advocacy. Tim Doyle, who will head the new practice, joins the firm as principal and general counsel. Doyle comes to GuidePost having served most recently as vice president of policy and general counsel of the American Council for Capital Formation and its affiliate the Center for Policy Research.
GuidePost’s corporate governance practice group advises clients on a wide range of public policy issues facing Fortune 500 businesses – and their executives and board members. In recent years, investors and advocacy organizations have become more active in using corporate governance structures to affect business decisions on a wide range of issues. This trend requires that businesses consider the governance and operational implications from federal policy changes.
Emerging issues in corporate governance policy have required businesses governed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulators to carefully consider how policy intersects with decisions related to corporate planning and governance. Led by Doyle, GuidePost Strategies will provide policy, research, and advocacy services to help companies anticipate, understand, and in some cases engage in the policy debate.
“We are excited to welcome Tim as head of our new corporate governance policy practice. This new practice group will allow our firm to serve clients and their comprehensive interest. From the corporate board room to Capitol Hill to national public affairs campaigns, we are pleased to support our clients’ interests before the federal government,” said GuidePost founding partners Phil Cox and Marie Sanderson.
Tim is a veteran of Washington policy and legislative debates and is well respected on Capitol Hill. Former Chair and current Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Rep. Bill Huizinga (R-MI) said, “I’ve known Tim for almost twenty years and he provides sound counsel to public policy makers on a number of issues including financial services, regulatory, as well as energy and the environment. He understands both the policy and politics behind these vital issues. I’m particularly pleased to see Tim joining a firm to engage in advising corporate governance efforts, among other things, as regulators grapple with federal policy changes impacting businesses on a variety of issues.”
